Dr Kamal Shigli is currently working as a Professor & Head of the Department of Prosthodontics, DY Patil Dental School, Lohegaon, Pune, Maharashtra. Her research interests include Prosthodontics and Geriatric dentistry. Dr Shigli is an expert in her discipline of dental sciences and a few years ago she has begun the journey towards becoming a scholarly teacher. To enable this, she completed her Fellowship of FAIMER (Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research) from GSMC Regional Institute, Mumbai in 2017 and PGDHE (Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education) from Indira Gandhi National Open University, India in 2021. Since she found her passion in scholarship of teaching and learning, she is currently pursuing her PhD from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. She is particularly interested in incorporating geriatric dentistry in the bachelor curriculum of dentistry. Dr Kamal Shigli has given around 12 keynote talks and 22 oral presentations in international, national and state level conferences. She has published 67 journal articles and two book chapters. Dr Kamal Shigli is an editorial member and reviewer of various national & international journals of repute. She is also a member of different professional bodies in India (GSI, Geriatric Society of India) and abroad (OWSD, Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World).
